Electromagnetic Compatibility Essentials

EMC is quite interdisciplinary and a challenging field. It is a subfield of electronics and communications engineering. Further, it is quite a practice-oriented subject, and in the beginning you are overwhelmed with a lot of technical terms. But don't worry: we will progress step by step.

Pre-requisites
This is an intermediate-level course. A fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering is required to benefit from this course. It is designed for EMC beginners in industry or academia. You should be familiar with the following terms: Complex numbers Resistor, Capacitor, Inductor and Impedance RC filter and RLC resonance Frequency and Wavelength Electric and Magnetic field Operational amplifier (opamp) Oscilloscope (scope) You should have already designed a PCB yourself once (e.g. with EAGLE or Altium Designer). You should have already simulated a circuit once (e.g. with LTspice). In case you have never heard one of the terms above, then you should consider taking a beginner electronics class beforehand. Our institute offers other MOOCs on electronics on iMooX if you are interested.
