C3BG is the Chips Competence Centre of Bulgaria, dedicated to strengthening the countrys role in Europes semiconductor ecosystem.
The Bulgarian Chips Competence Centre (C3BG), coordinated by the Technical University of Sofia, is Bulgarias national hub for microelectronics and semiconductor innovation under the European Chips Act. Building on the countrys historic strengths in semiconductor technologies, C3BG aims to become a one-stop shop for companies and researchers by uniting national infrastructure, research institutes, and industry. The consortium includes Sofia Tech Park, the National Centre for Mechatronics and Clean Technologies.
C3BG focuses on IC design and failure analysis, MEMS, materials research, and advanced packaging, while also promoting entrepreneurship through incubator services and venture funding pipelines. A strong emphasis is placed on talent development, including new bachelor and master programs in microelectronics, hands-on training, hackathons, and industry-supported research projects, with campaigns to inspire younger generations.
Through collaboration with clusters in AI, automotive, and electronics, and by connecting to the European Network of Chips Competence Centres, C3BG strengthens Bulgarias integration into the European semiconductor ecosystem, driving innovation, skills growth, and cross-border partnerships.
