ASTEERICS

ASTEERICS builds France’s microelectronics competence center, offering training, innovation, business support, and promotion within a pan-European semiconductor strategy.

The ASTEERICS project aims to establish the French Competence Centre for Microelectronics, as part of the European Commission’s initiative to deploy such centers in all 27 EU member states. Led by the Minalogic competitiveness cluster, the project brings together five other key microelectronics clusters (Alpha RLH, Images & Réseaux, SCS, S2E2, Systematic) and the association Jessica France, which manages the Captronic program supporting SMEs in the sector.

Academic training is handled by CNFM, a network of 12 universities, through the CIME-P platform. CIME-P offers Multi-Project Wafer (MPW) fabrication services for integrated circuits, photonics, 3D ICs, MEMS, and NVM technologies, supporting R&D prototyping.

These competence centers are critical for strengthening Europe’s position in the strategic semiconductor sector. By offering comprehensive services—technical support, advanced training, business development aid, and investment guidance—they will enable companies of all sizes to innovate and expand their capabilities.

The initiative also includes outreach and promotion strategies, such as a showcase website, awareness programs, and events to increase visibility and resource accessibility. A strong focus on helping companies with business planning, funding access, and advanced technologies will further enhance their attractiveness, fostering a dynamic ecosystem and contributing to the EU Chips Act objectives.
