MCC is Maltas Chips Competence Centre, focused on fabless startup incubation, advanced packaging, and chip design skills development, strengthening Maltas role in Europes semiconductor ecosystem.
The Malta Competence Centre (MCC), established under the EU Chips Act, is Maltas national hub for semiconductor expertise and innovation. Building on the countrys industrial strengths and experience, MCC supports Europes semiconductor strategy by specialising in fabless startup incubation, heterogeneous integration and advanced packaging, and chip design skills development.
Led by Malta Enterprise, the consortium brings together a strong network of partners: Silicon Catalyst EU Limited, the University of Malta (UM), the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST), and the Malta Digital Innovation Authority (MDIA). Together, they provide a platform for startups, SMEs, and industry players to access incubation support, training, and technology transfer opportunities. By linking local expertise with the European Network of Chips Competence Centres, MCC helps position Malta as a valuable contributor to the European semiconductor value chain while nurturing new innovation niches for future growth.
